Our School Aims

St Malachy's harnesses the support of home, church and community in providing a nurturing and challenging environment, where students are educated to their fullest potential as life-long learners, confident in their Catholic values.

 The school community functions within a safe, caring and orderly environment, permeated by a spirit of cooperation where staff, students and parents treat each other with dignity and respect.

 St Malachy's promotes a unique vision of the learner as growing to be:

A discerning believer formed in the Catholic Faith community who celebrates the signs and sacred mystery of God's presence through word, sacrament, prayer, forgiveness, reflection and moral living;

An effective communicator, who speaks, writes and listens honestly and sensitively, responding critically in light of gospel values.

  • A reflective, creative and holistic thinker who solves problems and makes responsible decisions with an informed moral conscience for the common good.
  • A self-directed, responsible, lifelong learner who develops and demonstrates their God-given potential.
  • A collaborative contributor who finds meaning, dignity and vocation in work which respects the rights of all and contributes to the common good.
  • A caring family member who attends to family, school, parish and the wider community. A responsible citizen who gives witness to Catholic social teaching by promoting peace, and the sacredness of human life.

Students, parents, teachers and staff are all members of the Catholic school community.  We base the development of our community on compassionate, responsible, fair and respectful treatment of each other as members of the Body of Christ. To that end, all members of St Malachy's have the right to be safe, and feel safe, in their school community.  With this right comes the responsibility for every member of the school community to be a law-abiding citizen and to be accountable for any action that puts at risk the safety of others or oneself
