General aims

In the Learning Support Unit pupils are educated in a positive learning environment which is geared to meeting their individual needs.  We deliver a broad and balanced curriculum with favourable teacher/pupil ratio in which individual, small group and integrated teaching can be facilitated, to enable all pupils to maximise their full potential.

Key Stage 3

Year 8, 9 & 10

Pupils follow the mainstream Programme of Study in all subject areas with a strong emphasis on Literacy and Numeracy support.  Pupils are integrated into mainstream classes as appropriate.

Key Stage 4

Programmes of study to include details of external examinations, modules, practical etc

Year 11 & 12

The core subjects of English, Maths, Religious Studies, LLW and Science are followed to GCSE level.  Option choices are also available that include vocational courses.

Extra-curricular activities

Pupils are fully integrated into all aspects of extra-curricular school life: – religious retreats, cultural, social and recreational activities, as well as after school study classes for GCSE and educational trips.

Career opportunities

Career support is offered to all Key Stage 4 pupils and guidance is provided for a smooth transition into Post 16 courses and employment.
