Some of our Year 10 history students paid a visit to the Ulster History Museum in Belfast last week. As part of the history curriculum they completed a World War 1 workshop.

Sixth form students along with Mr Faloon's Motor Vehicle and Road Traffic Studies class from St Malachy’s High School, Castlewellan, attended a Road Safety Road Show in SERC Downpatrick yesterday which highlighted the dangers associated with driving.

A retirement celebration was held in St Malachy’s High School, Castlewellan for Mr Seamus Burns to thank him for his dedicated service to the school as Technician in the Technology and Design Department and also as Senior Lunch Supervisor throughout the last 30 years.

Mr Kwa Daniels, Managing Director of bouncindj visited St Malachy’s High School, Castlewellan on Thursday 1st October to promote DJ lessons with Key Stage 3 students. Some students from St Malachy’s Primary School were invited to join in the fun and learn a little about how Djing works.

St Malachy’s High School, Castlewellan hosted a Health Seminar for Year 13 students on Wednesday 30th September. Facilitating the seminar were representatives from Action Mental health, ASCERT - Steps to Cope, The Lawrence Trust and Eating Disorders Association NI.

This year will see St Malachy’s High School, Castlewellan embark on their first ever McLarnon Cup campaign in the school’s history.  For a school which is steeped in GAA history this presents an exciting new challenge and one which they are relishing.

On Thursday 24th September, Year 11 students along with their parents and guardians gathered in St. Malachy's High School, Castlewellan to celebrate Junior Prize Giving. The evening began with a variety of musical treats courtesy of the school choir accompanied by students from the music department.

Congratulations to the U16 Rafferty Cup squad from St Malachy’s High School, Castlewellan who defeated St Malachy’s College Belfast on Friday 18th September in the first round with a score of 4-14 to 2-2! This is a fantastic result which augurs well for their first season in the Ulster School's GAA 'B' competition. Thanks to Mr Kevin Anderson and Mr Shea Curran for managing the team!
