St. Malachy’s High School, Castlewellan hosted a series of three study skill and revision seminars, delivered by ‘Amazing Brains’.
Amazing Brains’ is a Community Interest Company established in 2011 to bring Study Skills and Enterprise Education alive in Ireland's classrooms. The company work in partnership with schools and colleges to add value to a child’s educational experience.

Thursday 5th November – All Year 12 students attended the ‘Drive for Results’ seminar. The KS4 students engaged in a wide range of challenging activities. Areas covered within the programme included: Revision Strategies, Memory Techniques, Time Management, Goal Setting and Exam Preparation.

Monday 9th November – All Year 8 students attended the ‘Blast Off’ seminar. The programme aims to help the students gain confidence and relax about the new academic challenges that face them in their first year of post-primary education.  The students were introduced to various memory techniques.  Other content included Planning, Time Management and the impact of mobile technology and social media on study and revision. 

This will be followed up on 11th November by  a ‘Parent Power’ seminar  for Year 8 Parents/guardians . The programme aims to empower parents and give them the opportunity to help their own children develop the essential study techniques needed to succeed in school and examinations.

Overall 320 students and 70 parents/guardians were involved in the study skill and revision seminars, delivered by ‘Amazing Brains’.
