Young people and experts from leading children’s charity Action for Children, joined MLAs at Stormont last week to launch an urgent campaign to help children and teenagers in Northern Ireland build good mental health.

This marked Children’s Mental Health Week. Emma Cunningham, Cathal McCann & Brooklyn Flanagan represented St Malachy’s High School, Castlewellan at the event. Emma took to the podium to tell the attendees how the Action for Children Blues programme works in our school and her aim was also to help raise funding for the Action for Children Blues programme. MLAs, Education Authority representatives and Directors and staff of Action for Children were in the audience to hear her very well delivered speech. Emma also spoke on Radio Ulster that same morning and was interviewed by Maggie Taggart. Brooklyn also used her initiative and created her own video of the day which was a real highlight! Brooklyn got EVERYONE involved and directed and edited the video herself. After watching the video, one MLA awarded Brooklyn a voucher for her amazing efforts! This was a great day for the three students from St Malachy’s and fingers crossed they get the funding they need!
