The RE department at St Malachy’s High School are very thankful to Aveen Doherty and Mary McKibben  from the local legion of Mary Society who visited all year 8 pupils recently and kindly presented each pupil with a miraculous medal.

The ladies also gave an informative lesson on the ‘The many sides of the Miraculous medal’.  The Feast of the Immaculate Conception is celebrated by Catholics on December 8th each year. The Immaculate Conception teaches that Mary, the mother of Christ, was conceived without sin and her conception was therefore immaculate. Mary's sinless conception is the reason why Catholics refer to Mary as "full of grace".
