The Year 14 Business Studies students at St Malachy’s High School, Castlewellan organised their first ever Business Breakfast on Friday 20th October.

This was to raise funds for sporting activities in the school and to enhance the profile of the MacRory Cup team. They were very privileged to have such a special panel of guest speakers which included Ross Carr, Ciara Megeean, Oisin Mc Conville, Sara Booth and Chris Hazzard. Mark Sidebottom from The BBC challenged the panel on how they felt about the theme, ‘Are young people more employable if they play sport?’. Gerry Prior from Acordia held a workshop for local employers on how to set goals and achieve them.  Lots of local businesses contributed to the event which included: Bilbo’s, Cunningham Flowers, Hales Fruit and Slieve Donard Hotel. It was truly a memorable occasion and this was evident from the praise by those that attended posting social media afterwards. Head of Business studies, Mrs Claire Vernon, the Principal Mrs Orla O’Neill and the Year 14 students extend their thanks to all that made this morning so successful!
