A selection of students from St Malachy’s High School, Castlewellan were chosen to make up part of the delegation of Irish Medium students from across the North to visit the MEP Martina Anderson and the European Parliament.

It was a fantastic opportunity and one in which the students spent time learning about the history of the EU and its role and function today. The students were able to access the tour in Irish, as it is one of the official languages of the EU. Here they are pictured with Head of Irish Medium Education at St Malachy’s High School, Mrs Ciara Pickering, who attended the European Parliament with them. Principal Mrs Orla O’Neill is also pictured with the students on their arrival back to school after the trip.
